Silver Magnolia and Eagle Wing Brooch
Designed by Christina Lemon
In this specific piece of jewelry that I studied, it was designed and sculpted by Christina Lemon. The silver magnolia and eagle wing brooch accompanies most of Lemon's work in being a functional piece. This is most often the case because, her work is in the form of earring and pendants. Christina Lemon has said in many cases that her work is very heavily inspired by the natural looks of plants and outdoors in her home town in Georgia.

In the silver magnolia and eagle wing brooch, Christina Lemon uses sterling silver, blue sapphire, citrine. A 26 gauge silver sheet and a 22 gauge round sterling wire. Forming of the desired shape of flower and wing was done using a small steel hammer, plastic mallet, a dapping tool, wooden block and a vise. Removing dents and scratching, was then performed with a jeweler's saw and sanding by hand for more precise removal. Silver pieces were next soldered into the magnolia and wing shapes. The ending touches were using buffing wheel all around the piece and polishing to a shined finish.
